Characterization of Ythdf1-knockout mice
The purpose of this study is to elucidate the physiological function of Ythdf1 in vivo. Therefore, we will use a knockout mouse (KO) model in which the Ythdf1 gene is disrupted by conditional deletion of exon 5 with Flp and Cre.
Various organs from adult mice of different ages will be taken out for tissue sections and biochemical analysis.
We will establish MEF cells to complement our studies and reduce the number of mice needed.
We have planned our studies based on our previous experience to use the least amount of mice possible. Based on our calculations we will use a maximum of 576 mice in our studies.
The mice will not be used in experiments directly as biochemical analysis will be performed on extracted tissues and MEF cells.
