There are strong indications that the active compound in the functional diet is able to increase the efficiency of the vaccine ALPHA JECT when exposed to the M. viscosa.
From all the 300 fish used: 220 were identified as mild severity due to stress during seawater transfer and pit tagging and/or vaccination; 80 were identified as severe severity due to the development of winter ulcers or change in swimming pattern.
After switching the humane endpoints from moribund/belly up to a change in the swimming pattern and development of wounds, we used wounds and headkidney swaps to confirm the infection of M. viscosa. This approach supported the refinement strategy of the experiment.
