Pit taging 2022-2025

The purpose is to pit tag fish for experimental trials at Lerang research facility in order to follow individual animals through trials. The expected distress to the fish is mild at most. This will reduce the number of animals used in these trials because more information can be captured on an individual fish basis. Expected distress for the animal is minimal. Approximately 10,000 individual Atlantic salmon will be pit tagged each year for four years. Only the minimal number of fish required for the trials will be pit tagged.
