Evaluation of PD vaccines using cohabitation challenge model
• purpose of the experiment:
To evaluate the effect of vaccines against PD, subtype SAV2, using a novel cohabitation challenge model.
• expected distress for the animals:
Considerable pain due to damages in heart, pancreas red- and white skeletal muscle.
• expected scientific or societal benefit:
High importance and novelty. Effective vaccines reduce the extent of disease of farmed salmon in the sea
• how many and what kind of animals to be used: Atlantic salmon (parr), 1472 fish
• how demands for replacement, reduction and improvement will be adhered to:
The number of fish is a minimum to show the overall effect of this multifaceted disease.
No change
