Fenbendazole-medicated feed intake study in Atlantic Salmon
1 Purpose: To assess the intake of different medicated feeds containing Panacur AquaSol (Fenbenzadole) focusing on manufacturing aspects to increase the feed consumption
2 Distress: Reduction of medicated feed intake due to low palatability of Panacur AquaSol pharmaceutical formulation
3 Expected benefit: The current trial will help to develop an optimal manufacturing methodology for medicated feed containing Panacur AquaSol
4 Number of animals, and what kind: Atlantic salmon (ca. 300 g) will be graded into 24 0,45 m3 tanks with 30 fish per tank in two consecutive trials (total of 1440 fish)
5 How to adhere to 3R: Alternatives to the current trial have been considered and numbers of fish have been carefully assessed in order to minimize numbers whilst not compromising scientific statistical relevance
