1 Purpose
To estimate amino acid endogenous losses in Atlantic salmon and Rainbow trout

Fish will be fed with free protein diets.
3 Expected benefit
Better estimation of amino acid digestibility and improved feed formulation.
4 Number of animals, and what kind
Atlantic salmon (ca. 150 g) will be graded into 18 tanks of 450 liters with 30 fish per tank (total of 540 fish).
5 How to adhere to 3R
Alternatives to the current trial have been considered and numbers of fish have
been carefully assessed in order to minimise numbers whilst not compromising scientific statistical
relevance.
