Optimization of micronutrient supplementation in diets for Atlantic salmon smolt (copy)
The main scope of this project is the optimization of micronutrient supplementation in diets of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) smolst (ca. 150 g body weight at start and 450g body weight at the end) with reference to holistic fish performance (growth and health), cost, environmental impacts and ROI for the farmers when fed diets with graded levels micronutrients in either organic or inorganic form at challenging conditions. The test essential micronutrients are organic vs inorganic Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn and Se. Mixes of the 5 microminerals, either in organic or inorganic form will be tested in 4 different concentrations in the feed, i.e. 8 treatments in total will be tested in salmon smolt in triplicate 1000 lt tanks with 44 fish per tank (in total 24 tanks).
