    Plant health and plant health regulations

    The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has overall responsibility for maintaining good plant health and to prevent the introduction and spread of plant pests in Norway.

    In capacity as the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of Norway it carries out import and export inspections of plants and plant products, the issuance of phytosanitary certificates, surveillance and official control programs for regulated pests, inspections at the place of production of plants etc.

    Regulations of 1 December 2000 no. 1333 relating to plants and measures against pests (PDF) Annex 1 and 2, contain lists of regulated pests for Norway.  Annex 5A contains a list of plants and other regulated articles which must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate on import.
