Our switch board is operated Monday through Friday from 08.00 to 11:00 and from 12:00 to 15:00.

You can reach the Norwegian Food Safety Authority’s emergency response team outside regular opening hours. Call 22 40 00 00 and follow the voice instructions. Use this service if:

  • you are contacting us on behalf of the police or Customs
  • the inquiry involves an urgent international matter
  • you suspect a serious contagious animal disease
  • you have found sick or dead wild boar
  • you suspect an acute food- or waterborne outbreak
  • the case concerns serious animal welfare issues

When should you report cases of suspected animal abuse?

Sick or dead animals

If you find a sick or dead animal, please contact the on-call veterinarian in your local municipality.
Check your municipality’s website for contact information

Stray dogs or animals without an owner

If you come across a stray dog or another animal without an identifiable owner, please contact the police. Visit politiet.no (politiet.no) for more information.
